Computer science (or computing science) is the study and the science of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems
Computer engineering (or Computer Systems Engineering) encompasses broad areas of both electrical engineering and computer science. Computer engineers are engineers who have training in the areas of software design and hardware-software integration.
THEREFORE:
In plain computation:
Computer Science = Software + Applications
Computer Engineering = Hardware + Computer Science
I hope it helps
I want to re-begin in my field. I think is a good idea to get a certification. What basic/good salary value certification is good? Or you think I should look for a "entry level" job in Computer Science? I am 33 y.o.
Thank you!!! :*)
IDK UR THE MAN THO
what the title says
software is computer science.
hardware is engineering.

Well, I'm attending a 4 year college and having a bit hard time deciding my major. I hope you guys can clear my head or something. I'm not smart at math, however I do well and get them once someone explains it to me. I'm not total clueless, if I try hard i get them..goes for everyone i guess. But, you can say average. I love computer and learned a lot without anyone's help since day one. I always worked my way no matter how hard or how clueless I was. So, do you think I should go for computer science or engineer?. I have a lot of basic or kiddy knowledge in both. I love repairing and fixing computer software n hardware.
Thanks!
It would seem the better fit would be a computer science related field. A field pertaining more to the programming and hardware stages of developing computers. As an engineer, it is an advantage to enjoy math, but not required, practice, practice and more practice helps with the math. Computer science would seem more hands on with computers as engineering would be more along the lines of developing new designs that pertain to circuitary design etc. As for many fields related to this one, knowledge is gained with experience rather than the classroom.
i'm not really sure which sat 2 test i should take for computer science major. i know im taking math 2c for sure, but what else should i take? im not in ap bio, chem nor physics. but i'm willing to buy a book to self study. if i self study, which books do you reccommend?
one more question… i have a decent ap us history teacher and a crappy computer science teacher. i dont feel very confident in passing either ap tests. which books do you reccomend me get in order to pass?
Out of the three sciences, you should definitely take the physics SAT II. Every engineer or Comp Sci major will have to take at least 2 physics courses their freshman year. Many engineering schools (like mine) also require everyone to take a semester of chemistry, so I would say that should be your second choice for SAT IIs. Pretty much all good engineering schools require at least 1 math and 1 science exam. Take one extra in any subject that you feel confidant about, just in case they require three. Good luck with your tests!
The barrons SAT books are very good. I would concentrate on the computer science exam primarily, since having a good foundation in what you would like to major in is more important than getting out of a history class in college.
