out of the two universities which one is better for an UNDERGRADUATE program in COMPUTER SCIENCE….
please explain the reason in detail if possible..
They are both good schools with great reputations. I suggest that you look at which school appeals to you most and which is closer to your home. Also, if you live in one of those states you will pay less tuition if you go to that school.
As for Ohio, I can tell you that unemployment is at an all time high and we are one of the worst states in the US right now. We rank in the top 10 for all of the bad reasons; unemployment, overweight people, smokers, etc. I am not sure about Minnesota, but it is possible that you have a better chance of getting a job in that state after you graduate. Of course, with the new governor in the state of Ohio these things could change in the next 4 years. Check out the economic state of MN.
i've been accepted to university of illinois-champaign-urbana, university of minnesota-twin-cities, and purdue. some of the fields i plan on studying are kinesiology, nutrition, and computer science. does anybody have any experience with any of these colleges? do any of them have any advantages or disadvantages that the others don't have?
All three are excellent universities. Illinois is the highest ranked of the three and Purdue is ranked the lowest.
Minnesota has faculty and graduate programs that are as good as Illinois, but is lower in the rankings because they are less selective in accepting undergraduates. Therefore, you can get as good an educatino there as at Illinois. It is a very large university. This can be both good and bad. It is good because they will offer a lot more classes. It is bad because introductory classes are large. Nutrition is on the St Paul campus (Ag School) which is a smaller campus with a different feel.
There is a lot of culture in the Twin Cities — so if you are looking for the environment outside of school, it has a lot to offer.
whats your opinion on the following Universities for an Undergrad Computer Science program.
1.Ohio State-Columbus
2.Purdue University-IN
3.Stony Brook Uni-NY
4.University of Minnesota-Twin cities
You should look to see if they're ABET (www.abet.org) accredited first. Then, find out their job placements (or graduate school placing if you plan on going). Also, go to www.studentsreview.com to see what other students say about the major and campus. I stumbled upon that website and have ruled out so many colleges.
